Arts Production and Management

In between degrees, and around a 20 month period studying gamelan in Java, I was active in the new music scene in Vancouver, both as a composer/performer/improviser and behind the scenes as an administrator. While an undergraduate student I became involved with the composers' collective Vancouver Pro Musica, later becoming their first official administrator. I also managed the new music quintet Standing Wave, and worked as an assistant at Vancouver New Music and Diane Kadota Arts Management. Through Vancouver Pro Musica I produced two editions of Further East Further West, a project which brings together composers and performers of new music and traditional Asian performance practices based in Vancouver.

Since beginning my graduate studies at Wesleyan University, I co-produced the first New England Gamelan Weekend, a gathering of performers, composers and scholars of Indonesian music at Wesleyan, April 19-21, 2001. The following spring I coordinated performances and lectures for the Wesleyan World Music Weekend.
